PAHOA — Some students whose schools are closed because of a lava flow threatening Pahoa are transitioning to their new schools.

Keaau Middle and Keaau High will be welcoming students Friday who will be joining them from their closed Pahoa schools. Other students displaced by the lava will start at a temporary school site or other area schools starting Monday.
Keonepoko Elementary is closed indefinitely because it’s in the projected path of the lava. Pahoa High and Intermediate and Pahoa Elementary are also closed.
Which schools students from the closed schools go to depends on grade level and which side of the flow they live on.
